Fitness and nutrition

WALT: Keep ourselves fit and healthy. For Term 3 the year 5 and 6 students on Wednesday mornings individually spent time learning why it is important to exercise and look at our nutrition with Karen, our exercise and nutrition helper. Each Wednesday we alternated between exercise and looking at our health. To exercise, we played a few different games. One of them was a ball game which is when you have a pile of small balls in the middle of a circle and the people create that circle and you run and grab one ball and according to the color of the ball, that is the exercise you need to do. Once all the balls in the middle have gone, you can start to steal other peoples balls and you need to do that exercise. Another game was called cat. Cat is where somebody has a pile of cards and they draw a card out and you have to do that exercise 10 times. If the person draws out cat with a different exercise, then you have to do the exercise before cat and you need to do the cat exercise. For health, we talked about keeping ourselves healthy and eating healthy food. After fitness or health, we have a draw. There is a prize for the boys and for the girls. Inside the swimming bag there is things that can keep you fresh, fit and healthy. We each got a number and Karen said a random number from 1 to 35 and the person with that number wins the boy/girls test.
