How China celebrates Christmas
In China, only about one percent of people are Christians, so most people in China only know a few things about Christmas. Because of the, Christmas is only often celebrated in major cities. In these big cities there are Christmas trees, lights and other decorations on the streets and department stores. Santa Claus is called ‘Shen Dan Lao Ren’ and has grottos in shops in America and Europe. A tradition in China on Christmas Eve is giving apples. Different stores in China give apples away wrapped up in different coloured paper before Christmas from 7:30 until about 11:30pm. On Christmas Day, Shen Dan Lao Ren will be in a different city every year and invites everybody to have a Christmas Party.
